‘It’s a shame to humilate a man who has given so much’ – Cristiano Ronaldo’s sister slams Portugal boss

Cristiano Ronaldo’s sister has last night taken her annoyance to social media (Instagram) to slam the Portugal National Team’s coach, Fernando Santos’ decision to bench her brother in their 6-1 win over Switzerland on Tuesday evening, December 6.

Elma Aveiro claims the Portuguese manager humiliated her brother, adding she did not know why Santos had left the 37-year-old out of his starting XI, and that she could not understand it.

The Portuguese went on to thrash Switzerland, with Goncalo Ramos starring up front and scoring an hattrick in the game.

She took to Instagram to share her tirade at the decision to leave out her brother, who started from the bench in a knockout game of a major international tournament for the first time since Euro 2008.

‘Today we are all together, if you think it has to be like this I am here to see it,’ she began, posting an image of the Portugal team prior to kick-off.

‘Yes Ronaldo is not eternal, yes Ronaldo won’t play forever, unfortunately he doesn’t score goals now, he’s old, Portugal doesn’t need Ronaldo,’ she continued.

‘We talked about what we heard, all that he did isn’t important, all that he did was forgotten.

‘Now they ask for forgiveness and they don’t need him. I will register that and later we’ll talk.

‘Rui Santos, what will he apologise for? Now we we can f*** who we want.

‘It is a shame to humiliate a man who has given so much, but later I will see a lot more.’

At what age should my child start school?

One very important question asked by modern day parents is what age is appropriate for their children to be enrolled in school. This is following the high demands placed on nursing
parents to return to work and the unavailability of trusted caregivers and fears rising from trusting ones kids to a non-family caregiver.

Though in child psychology , school age is assigned according to child development which comes in different stages as the child grows from infancy to adulthood. However, this doesn’t seem to answer the question of what age a child should start school as each child tends to develop differently from another.

Subsequently, school age is also relative to different countries of the world, while some say two to six (2-6)years is appropriate for pre-school/ creche to Primary school, some say four to six (4-6)years.

However, this may also depend on the development of your child’s cognitive abilities. While some children are early bloomers, some are late bloomers and starting school could also be dependent on how early the child can assimilate learned instructions.

At age 2 -3, some children are able to run around without knocking things down, walking downstairs alternating their feet, throwing and catching a ball, climbing. If you find your child capable of doing these activities, you can go ahead to register them in schools where there are creche and kindergarten facilities.

If your child at age two to three can not take on such activities, or could with minimal assistance, you do not need to panic as such a child could be a late bloomer. The child can also start school but will need additional care while in school, so you can look out for schools where such a facility is available.
If you are not a fan of creche and kindergarten and you want to delay your child starting out early, then you should consider the age 4 -6 years old where you can directly enrol them in a pre-primary (Nursery) school at aged 4 and into primary school at age six (6).

Whatever age you decide to send off your child to school, be sure that the school
environment is safe enough to accommodate your child’s needs.

You Are Talented But…

By Moses Umoh

Talent is quite a blessing to whoever is blessed with it. It is one door opener that can get you to where you can’t ordinarily and because of these realities, being talented in anything thing at all is a good thing. You are talented but, know that talents do not just begin to work, they have processes, requirements, and things to do to get them working and it is very important to understand how this works else, you will be talented yet not know how to make good and proper use of it, for it to be a blessing to you. What are those things to do? You may ask. Well, a few of these answers are made available, and let’s look at them.

  1. Discover your talents.
The first thing to do is to discover the talents you have. This initial move will make you understand what you have. Knowledge, they say, is power, have it about yourself.
  2. Sharpen your talents.
When you know what you have, the next thing is to sharpen your talent. Get trained by those in the field, learn from their experience and become better. Yes, you are talented but you need to be trained at it.
  3. Serve with your talents.
After training, serving an existing business with the pieces of training you’ve got will give you the experience you need in the field. This point is where most people miss out because they don’t want to serve. Forgetting that this will give them the experience they need to thrive. Become a volunteer, or an intern, learn more and acquire more experience.
  4. Trade with your talents.
When you have done the above three, you will have the understanding of how to trade with your talent if you fail to do this, it will mean that you are talented but you may not make it far with it. YOU ARE TALENTED BUT…

Elon Musk changes Bio to Twitter Complaint online operator

Elon earlier today took a dig at those complaining about the $8 monthly subscription for the twitter verification blue tick.

Mr Elon Musk, who had taken over Twitter, just updated his bio details from ‘Cheif Twit’ to ‘Twitter Complaint Hotline Operator.’

Elon also changed the profile avi to his younger self pictured holding a telephone. The brand new CEO earlier expressed interest in making Twitter a free space.

This change was made as Twitter’s advertising chief, Sarah Personette, tweeted on Tuesday November 1st, that she has resigned from the company following an sack of nearly the entire senior ranks.

The company has stopped responding to media questions, except for the few that Musk answers by tweet.

Personette, who was chief customer officer, leaves the company following the firings last week of multiple executives, including former Twitter Chief Executive Parag Agrawal and Chief Financial Officer Ned Segal.

Chief Marketing Officer Leslie Berland and head of product Jay Sullivan have announced their departures.
DailyMail.com spotted Berland looking bereft upon leaving Twitter HQ days earlier.

Chief People and Diversity Officer Dalana Brand announced on Tuesday in a LinkedIn post that she had resigned last week as well. General manager for core technologies Nick Caldwell confirmed his departure on Twitter, changing his profile bio to ‘former Twitter exec’ by Monday night.

Musk’s team is meeting with advertisers this week in New York, as the company’s increasingly skittish customers raise alarms about the potential for harmful content to appear next to their ads.

Twitter plans to start charging nearly $20 a month for users to stay verified.

This is part of a premium service that will be rolled out under Elon Musk’s leadership, according to a report.

The whole verification process is being revamped right now,” Musk, who took over as the CEO of the social media platform Friday, October 28, tweeted Sunday, October 30.

The company also plans to raise its optional $4.99-a-month premium subscription called Twitter Blue to $19.99 a month. However, that price is subject to change, The Verge reported, citing internal correspondence and people familiar with the matter.

Twitter will add more features, including verification, to bring its subscription up to par with the cost hike.

Elon Musk plans to make verified users pay money to keep their verified status.

Existing verified users have 90 days to subscribe to the new Twitter Blue after its launch or they’ll lose their blue checkmarks, according to The Verge.

The current Twitter Blue launched about a year ago and offers subscribers a way to view ad-free articles from some publishers as well as additional customization settings.

Musk has been outspoken about his desire to grow subscription numbers to account for half of Twitter’s revenue as well as his eagerness to overhaul the platform’s verification process.

FG DETAINS 35 SUSPECTED ISWAP FIGHTERS, TENSION HEIGHTENS

• UK issues fresh alert, IG releases emergency phone numbers, calls for vigilance

• FCTA demolishes shanties, Jabi shopping mall shut, other facilities tighten security
Punch reports
A joint operation launched by the Department of State Services, the National Intelligence Agency, the police and other security agencies has successfully dismantled a terror cell and arrested five Islamic State West Africa Province commanders and 30 fighters.

The PUNCH gathered that the terror suspects were apprehended at their hideouts in different locations in Abuja, Mararaba and other satellite towns in the Federal Capital Territory. Our correspondent learnt that the suspects were being held at a DSS facility.

The arrests were made amid heightened tension in the nation’s capital as the popular Jabi Lake Mall shut its doors to shoppers and visitors on Thursday, citing the security situation.

To discourage criminal activities, the FCT Administration demolished shanties on Law School land, saying it was part of security measures.

Also, the United Kingdom issued a fresh security alert warning British nationals against visiting Abuja and 14 other states.

This further sparked anxiety among residents as many stayed away from work while vehicular traffic was unusually light.

In addition, the United States Mission and the British High Commission suspended consular services.

But the counter-intelligence operations which netted the suspected militants continued on Thursday with more arrests. It was said to have the backing of the US security and intelligence agencies.

Our correspondent could, however, not confirm the number of additional suspects that were picked up during the Thursday raid.

It was further learnt that the intelligence agencies had been on the trail of the insurgents before the US and the British High Commission issued security alerts last Sunday, warning their citizens about impending terrorist attacks.

The US Embassy in Abuja had issued an alert for “an elevated risk of terror attacks” in the city, saying that possible targets include government buildings, places of worship and other public places.

In response to this development, the US government authorised the departure of its non-essential employees and their families from Nigeria.

The US State Department in its updated Nigeria travel advisory on Tuesday evening said, “On October 25, 2022, the Department authorised the departure of non-emergency US government employees and family members due to the heightened risk of terrorist attacks.’’

The British High Commission in Nigeria also took a similar step and restricted entry to its premises in an updated terrorism alert.

On Monday, security operatives arrested two terror suspects at Trademore Estate in Lugbe area of Abuja.

ISWAP fighters

Security sources explained that the ISWAP members relocated to the FCT following the heavy bombardment of their enclaves and camps in the North-West by the Nigerian Air Force.

Giving more insight into the ongoing counter-intelligence operations, a security source revealed that the terror suspects were planning a big attack in Abuja before they were nabbed.

The source disclosed that the detained fighters were providing useful information which had led to the arrest of some of their members masquerading as artisans, cart pushers and security guards in the city.

A senior officer stated, ‘’A massive counter-intelligence operation is going on to disrupt, neutralise and destroy the ISWAP terrorists in the FCT. Many commanders and their foot soldiers have been arrested and they are currently helping us in our investigations. About five commanders and 30 fighters have been apprehended but we expect to capture more suspects as we widen our dragnet.’’

The DSS spokesperson, Peter Afunanya said he had not been briefed on the arrest of the terrorists when one of our correspondents contacted him.

The Director, Defence Information, Major Jimmy Akpor did not pick up calls to his line and has yet to respond to a text message sent to him on the matter.

Meanwhile, in another update on Wednesday, the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office again restated its warning of an increased threat of terrorist attack in Abuja.

Despite the assurances of the Federal Government that the security agencies had a handle on the security situation, the British Government cautioned its nationals against travel to the FCT and 14 other states in the country.

The travel advice was made available to journalists in Abuja on Thursday, underscoring the gravity of the state of affairs.

The statement was titled, ‘FCDO updates travel advice to British nationals travelling to the Federal Capital Territory, including Abuja.’

It read, ‘’FCDO has updated its travel advice on 26 October to British nationals. The FCDO now advises against all but essential travel to the Federal Capital Territory, including the city of Abuja.

‘’The updated advice outlines that there is an increased threat of terrorist attack in Abuja. British nationals are advised to stay alert, avoid non-essential travel within the city and follow the local news and the advice of security authorities.

“The British High Commission remains open for essential services. The travel advice will constantly be reviewed to make sure it reflects the current situation in Abuja and Nigeria. FCDO travel advice exists to inform British nationals so they can make decisions about travelling abroad.

Fresh alert

“Other states in Nigeria where we advise against all but essential travel include Bauchi, Kano, Jigawa, Niger, Sokoto, Kogi, Abia, Plateau, Taraba, within 20km of the border with Niger in Kebbi State and non-riverine areas of Delta, Bayelsa and Rivers states.’’

Our correspondents who went around the FCT on Thursday observed that the traffic on the usually busy roads was light as many routes were deserted.

Areas devoid of the usual traffic gridlock include Wuse, Berger roundabout, Utako and other commercial areas.

At the US Embassy in Area 10, Garki, the environment was tense as security operatives questioned commuters plying the route.

A private security guard told one of our correspondents that the embassy had shut down for now and was not attending to the public.

The mission could not be reached for comments as an inquiry sent to the official email address was not answered but an official who spoke on condition of anonymity said, ‘’We have shut down the Abuja mission for now but those who need our services can go to the consulate in Lagos where normal activities are going on.’’

The same situation was observed at the British High Commission which was guarded by armed policemen.

The PUNCH observed normal activities at the other diplomatic missions, including Ghana, China, Canada, Senegal and Cote D’Ivoire.

Our correspondent equally noticed that many federal workers did not report for duty as checks at the Federal Secretariat indicate that some workers did turn up.

A civil servant who simply identified herself as Maryann justified her absence from the office in a phone interview.

“Who do you want me to believe when the US Embassy said there’s an elevated risk and the FG is saying otherwise? It is not only work that I have been avoiding since the advisory was released, I have also not been to the market and other places as safety precautions,’’ she stated.

A senior official postponed a scheduled media interview with our correspondent, stating that he did not go to the office on account of the security situation in the city.

Arising from the security alert, the Jabi Lake Mall shut its doors to shoppers on Thursday.

In a post on the mall’s Instagram page @jabilakemallnigeria, the management revealed that although it wasn’t its intention to disrupt activities, they had decided for the safety of shoppers and staff of the establishment.

They added that they were reviewing the security situation with relevant authorities and that the mall would be reopened as soon as possible.

The post read, “To all our valued shoppers, Jabi Lake Mall will be closed today, Thursday, 27 October 2022. This decision has been taken in the overall interest of the safety of all staff and customers of the mall.

‘’Centre Management is committed to minimising any disruptions; however, the safety of our staff and shoppers remains our highest priority. Management is constantly reviewing the security situation in consultation with relevant security authorities and will inform you when the mall will be re-opened. We apologise for any inconvenience caused and hope to provide you with a quality shopping experience soon. Thank you.”

Our correspondent observed the presence of operatives of the Nigeria Police Force anti-bomb squad at the plaza.

An anti-bomb police officer who spoke on the condition of anonymity, said, “We were called upon by the management of Jabi Mall to protect the mall due to the reported imminent terror attack on public places in the FCT.”

The stinking disposition of waiting to be provided for – A letter to Ladies

By Chinaza Favour

Dear ladies,

We need to talk.

You position yourself to receive and the last thing that comes to your mind is how you can give in your relationship.

This needs to stop.

You have a need but you are waiting for your partner to provide that need for you.
Is anything wrong with your hands? Are you going to stop existing if you make your own money and SPEND it?

You are invited to a date and he must cover your transportation cost? Why sell yourself so cheap?
Just so you know, the earth will not collapse if you pay for the meal.😏

Who has done this to us?
This sense of entitlement is the reason many of us would rather engage our bodies than our brains.

Speaking of which, you have wrongly believed that your touch is all a man needs. Real men are not after what’s between your legs. They are no longer after the soft tissues on your chest.

Real men are on the look-out for ladies who can initiate and sustain intelligent conversations!
A lady that has fine matter in between her ears.
Why would a man start a conversation with a supposed ‘fine girl’ and you are just talking off point?

You are in a relationship and you don’t care about the progress of his business as long as he’s providing.
Have you ever made a suggestion that could be considered useful?
Or is it all about your body and good food?

For your information, you will not be this physically appealing in the next 50 years. So, invest in yourself so much so that the first thing a man notices about you is your VALUE!

Do away with that parasitic posture of always being the receiver and learn to give!
Buy him gifts.
Send him lunch from his favourite restaurant.
SPEND YOUR MONEY ON HIM!
You will not die.

By the way, making your own money and getting what you want at will, takes money out of the top reasons you’d say yes to a guy.

Real men appreciate women who are independent and not parasites.

Whether you are in a relationship or not, work to be able to afford the life that you desire.
Stop waiting for ‘Him’ to supply all your needs; He is NOT Jehovah Jireh your provider.🚶‍♀️🚶‍♀️🚶‍♀️

I just hope you take this seriously and make amends.
